Another weekend in Singapore

In the beginning of August, I was in Singapore for Da Vinci Exhibition and to watch a movie Van Gogh.

I was down in Singapore again at the end of August, this time for Aimee Mann’s concert and to see the exhibits  from ” in National Museum of Singapore.

A Story of the Image: Old & New Masters From Antwerp

This time, I had a ‘personal tutor’ with me, who teaches me about art history, especially on Antwerp, how to view the different levels of contrast, conceptual and critical thinking. This ‘personal tutor’ made it interesting for me, and slowly I’m learning how things around me linked to each other, how upbringing affects how one views the world and the way they live their lives. Most of all, I’ve learn that I have to go beyond the ‘seeing’ stage to the ‘ looking’ stage.

For the past few exhibitions that I’ve been, I really wish to go to Europe.

I did not bring my camera to Singapore but I have to say I like the dead horses installation. The horses look so real. If only I could get one of the horses back and put in my garden to scare the neighbours.

I forgot to mentioned I saw an installation at the entrance of the National Museum.

Love Tank

This work expresses the interaction between the East and West cultures – an interaction which often ends in clashes. The adaptation of these cultures is symbolised through the visual language of seven tanks stacked on top of one another forming a tall structure resembling a Pagoda. The tanks are decorated or camouflaged with red lotuses and the juxtaposition transforms the killing machine into one that conveys love and peace to humankind. – Excerpt from National Museum of Singapore
