As we continue with the festival with taking off, an event which deserve a page on its own. It was hot and sunny but yet fun at the same time. It was great to see families come together to play kites and for those who can stand the heat, play the drums too. It was a fun carnival event, with people flying kites, decent pop music, free clapper things, a decent outdoor sound system. As much I was complaining about the heat, but thankfully it didn’t rain or had the haze. After the haze, I realised I appreciate the sun a lot more though it can be scorching.

Theatre of Ships. Looks unimpressive in the day. Maybe it looks better at night which I didn’t get a chance to see.

Huge kites flying flying in the sky and can be seen from far away.

Big kites, small kites, long tailed kites.

More kites.

Then at 4pm, we had a drum workshop with Tugu Drum Circle. It was hot yet fun. At first I didn’t want to join but since the core members were encouraging people to join and also it seems fun, I joined in too The workshop ended at 5pm and they told us to come back at 6.30pm for the actual drumming session with the VIPs. I was too fried and tired that I didn’t join.

Drummers and the rest.

The crowd under the hot sun.

A multicultural event. Tourists, locals, old young, musical, non musically inclined… all can join.

The video below is a short clip of the percussion session. It was really fun. Of course some were playing out of beat, but you have the core members to keep the rest in beat. Such a fun event.
