This post was taken from my personal blog but I decided to paste it here since this is a design blog.
I brought my fat camera to Singapore and made my bag heavier.
I was there for an art appreciation trip. It’s just strange to see the turn of events. Months back, I was actually planning to go to Singapore to watch Mosaic Music Festival around 15 March but I cancelled it because I decided to save money.
At the end, I went to Singapore at the 15 March. The day that I planned to go watch some music ended up as an appreciation trip.
I guess I was just fated to be in Singapore on the 15 March for art related stuff.
Alrights, less words and more pics:

Ever wondered why the N, S, M is placed that way on top? I was there to see “Greek Masterpieces From the Lourve”

I was greeted by an almost two stories tall purple ‘David.’ It’s a sculpture with batik patterns.

I really like this sculpture. I really like the way it is sculptured. It feels as though you can see the thigh under her ‘transparent’ clothing. I was excited about the details until I was told to see the wet clothes sculpture (Aphrodite).

Meet Alexander. They described him as having a tout neck and if you compared Alexander’s neck with other necks, you can actually see that his neck is really tout, unlike others who have more relaxed necks.

Socrates

Plato

Aphodite in her wet clothes. Look at how her robes stick to her body. You can even see her belly button! Not only that, it’s live size!

You can dress up like Greeks!

They even teach you how to dress like Greeks. I did tried and someone took a photo of me but I have to say I failed lah. You know lah, I where got so sexy like the Greek Goddesses.

This is another part of the museum where they stored their mock spices in one jar. The jar above then will have descriptions, and another jar will have artists’ illustrations of the spices. So cool.

Novus Cafe. Look at how they maintained their heritage buildings (evident from the windows and walls on the left) and how they extend the building with modern and simplistic design. They used natural lighting and it doesn’t feel hot at all. Unlike Alamanda, they try this natural lighting thing but at the end it feels hot.

I went there the next there to see ‘On the Nalanda trail’. It was about how Buddhism spread from Nalanda to other Asian countries. No photos because we’re not allowed to bring in cameras.
Overall, it was a good break away from work. It was my second time to Singapore and my first time wasn’t that enjoyable due to some reasons. It was a fun trip because I get to walk around a lot and taking MRTs and just going around though walking up the flight of stairs from near Plaza Singapura to Mount Sophia is indeed tiring. It’s so steep that even I was walking down the stairs, I didn’t dare to run down because the stairs weren’t wide enough. Besides that, everytime I walk down, it felt as though I was going to roll down the stairs.
I really like how Singapore has this district of arts and all and I like how they take all aspects of designs to make their museums look nice.
Malaysia… why so slow?
